| GFFA makes Christmas come true for Garland Children |
|
Once again, for the 19th straight year, the Garland Fire Fighters Association made Christmas come true for 65 underpriviledged children in Garland. Led by the efforts of Jerry Click the shopping spree once again came off with out a hitch. Jerry spends countless hours in preparation for this effort. Also, with out the work of the Charities committee led by Clay Carr, the funds would have not been available to pull this off. Clay led the Harley raffle effort and Tracy Chumbley led the efforts on our golf trounament. Because of these efforts we were able to spend over $8,000.00 this year on the kids!
Spirits were high and Target was gracious to host the event. Special thanks to Council members Weldon Bradley, Terri Dunn, and John Garner for attending and supporting this event. We also want to thank Chief Grammer for attending.
Thanks to all the members who came and shopped for the children and enjoyed the fellowship. One of our missions of the GFFA is to support the community that we serve. Great Job Firefighters!
The GFFA charites also donated $3500.00 this year in support of Firefighters in the hurricane ravaged areas through the IAFF hurricane disaster relief fund. We also helped one of our own members families who was displaced by the hurricane with a $1000.00 donation.
Brothers and Sisters, You are the Greatest!!
